Gateway To Technology is a curriculum developed by Project Lead The Way (www.pltw.org). The goal of the GTT courses are to heighten student' interests in Engineering and encourage them to consider the STEM Academy in High School. The classes are lecture and project based.
GTT-A is for 7th Grade students. The modules covered are Design & Modeling and Science of Technology. D&M reviews the Design process, hand-drawing techniques, 3D CAD package INVENTOR and various projects. SOT is about technology in our modern world, the 6 Simple Machines, complex machines and systems, energy sources and various projects.
GTT-B is for 8th Grade students who have successfully completed GTT-A. The modules covered are Robotics & Automation and Magic of Electrons. R&A reviews the history of robotics, programming, control logic and building small machines and automation. MOE explains how electricity works, is produced and transmitted, electronic components and simple circuitry.
For the students who successfully complete both classes a high-school credit can be earned. The high school classes under Engineering in the STEM Academies is developed by PLTW as well.
