Happy Halloween

Good spooky day to all of you out there.  I have great news to report that our students did an outstanding job at the All-Region Choir this weekend in Georgetown.  Amazing sounds were made by all three groups, and I am extremely proud of the DMS students that gave up their day to practice and perform in this annual event.

This week Encore will be attending the Ren. Fest and performing at 2:30 on the Globe Stage.  We are excited about this opportunity.  We have several upcoming performances next week.  Stay tuned for an updated schedule of events later on this week.

Again, we continue to work on Winter Music and shape up our sightreading skills.  We will also be celebrating red ribbon week, and are looking for some fun times while promoting a drug free culture.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Encore will be attending the TX Renaissance Festival on Nov. 2^nd, 2011.  The cost of the trip is $45.00 and includes admission into the festival, transportation, and lunch.  Payment is past due at this time.  Please make checks payable to DMS Choir.  If your student is in need of financial assistance, please contact me as soon as possible.  I will keep scholarship information confidential, and will do everything I can to make sure finances do not keep a student from attending this incredible trip.

6am       Meet at  Deerpark Cafeteria and leave for festival

9am       Arrive at Festival in Plantersville, TX

4pm       Leave Festival for Austin

7pm       Arrive at Deerpark and students should be picked up by parents/guardians

Room for chaperones is still available on the busses.  Tickets may be purchased at the door for parents who choose to attend.

October 24th

Its one week to Halloween, and we have already begun our winter music in all classes.  We have also completed our All-Region choir audition process and will have 10 students participating in the choir this weekend in Georgetown.  If your child made the all-region choir, expect a note home with specifics.  As of now, we can say that the bus will load at 8:00 am at DMS and the concert will start at 4:00 or 4:30 in Georgetown.  The concert is free and parents should plan on picking up their child after the concert and returning them home.

We are very proud of the students that auditioned, and the ones that made it into this honor choir.  We hope to see everyone at the concert in Georgetown this Saturday.

Remember to get your money in for the Stars Hockey Game asap, we will be singing the national anthem on November 19th at the Cedar Park Center.

October 17

Great Job DMS students on your performance.  Lots and lots of good things happened.  We need to continue to work hard to get better at the things we can improve upon and especially work hard to be good active listeners in the audience. 

Saturday is All Region Choir Auditions, below is the note that will go home Tuesday with your students.  This is only for those auditioning.  Lets wish these students lots of luck in their endeavor.

Parents,

All Region Choir Auditions are this weekend, and your child needs to be dropped off at DMS at 7:00am.  The bus will depart at 7:15 to Canyon Ridge Middle School.

Students should bring a cell phone to call their parents once they are done.  Students audition in random order so we have absolutely no idea what time they will be done, but all singers should finish by 12noon

It is the parents’ responsibility to pick up their child, and directions are below

Canyon Ridge Middle School is located in Steiner Ranch, East of the Mansfield Dam off of 620.

• From 620, turn at the light onto Quinlin Park Drive
• You will remain on Quinlin as you go through two stoplights.  You will pass an elementary school, as well as the UT Golf Club.
• Continue on Quinlin and turn right at the third stop light onto Country Trails Lane. 
• CRMS will be on the left, and buses will turn into the first entrance by the football fields.

Once students are released, parent pick-up may be done at the FRONT of the school.  Students will not be allowed to re-enter the building once they have left.

Last year, there were a lot of problems with lost and found items.  Please encourage your child to be responsible with their belongings, as anything left will be trashed or donated to fire victims if not claimed within the week.

 

Food

 

The CRMS Choir parents will be providing breakfast for the judges.  THERE WILL BE NO FOOD AT THE CONCESSION STAND THIS YEAR.  We will only have bottled water to provide to the students for $1 a bottle.   NO food or drink may be allowed in the gyms.  Please encourage your students to eat a healthy breakfast before the contest, and if all runs smoothly, we will be done around lunchtime, so there will be no need for food.

A clarification

For the concert this Friday.  Dress code is as follows:

All Men - Black shoes/socks/slacks, white shirt and a tie

6th grade girls - Choir shirt and jeans

7th & 8th grade girls - Red Choir Dresses

Friday = Concert

A busy short week is due for the DMS Choirs as we wrap up final touches on our concert.  Because of a busy bus schedule we will not bus the students to the RRISD PAC.  Instead we will have a 5:15 arrival time where the students go to the stage and warm up, and parents remain in the lobby until 5:45.  It is at that time in which we will open up seating to the parents.  It is important that your child arrive on time to go through the seating and warm up process as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In addition to the concert, all fundraising will arrive at the end of the day Wednesday.  Students should prepare to have transportation home that day.  If your child has a large amount of fundraising items, please park and come in to help load the items into your vehicle.

October 3 - 7

Our concert is only one week away, and we are excited to present it for you all next Friday.  Our new dresses have arrived, and we will be contacting parents to arrange times to get all the girls fitted and ready to go.  The ladies will need to have black flat, closed-toe shoes to wear during the concert.  Men will need to have black slacks, socks and shoes and a white button up shirt with a tie.  6th grade will wear their choir shirts and jeans.

We will continue rehearsing in preperation for our concert next week.  The choir concert will start promptly at 6pm and will be immediatly followed by the DMS band concert.  We ask all choir parents that are not staying for the band concert to exit the auditorium as quickly as possible so seating can be made available for the band parents.
