Solo and Ensemble competition is this Saturday at CD Fulkes Middle School. Please make sure you have sent your $10 payment by Friday if your child is participating. Notes containing information will go home by Tuesday, so please look for them. DMS will be singing for Judge 2 between 8:00 and 9:30 am.
We will also start more of our contest music this week. Students will continue to earn the right to perform at the 5th grade recruitment event during the school day as well (Next Monday) Several students have lost the right to perform due to behavior, so encourage your child to be on their best rehearsal behavior this week to ensure they can perform next Monday.
6th grade festival information is coming from central office this week. Look for updates as soon as we get them.

This is our last fund raising week, and at this point, all 7000 lollipops have been checked out. We are diligently working to collect, count, and process all this money for each student. We hope that by next week we will have the final bill for each students trip, minus their fund raising totals of course.
This week, we will continue to work on sight-reading and learning not only new solo music, but also learning our contest music in all classes. We have a contest next Saturday for students choosing to participate. 7th and 8th graders may sing a solo if they choose, and the $10 fee is due by the end of this week. We will send home a bill to all students who have signed up.
Remember that money or lollipops must be turned in next Monday in class, no exceptions.

Parents,
The choir is beginning its final trip fundraiser today. We are selling Ozark Delight Gourmet Lollipops for $1 each. The students are checking out bags of 20 at a time and are only allowed to sell them after school for the next two weeks. We are hopeful for a good sale and the ability to send more people on the trips to San Antonio.
At the conclusion of the fundraiser, we will be taking time to update each student account and sending home a letter stating how much each student now owes to complete payment for their trip. Many students will not have to pay, but those that choose not to fund raise or did not raise enough funds will need to pay the remaining balance to go on our spring trip.
If money is available, we will do our best to scholarship students who have demonstrated the desire to go but are experienceing hardships. At this time, we cannont make any determinations on scholarships.
We are working hard in each class on contest music, and are preparing for a successful contest season. Please look on Charms if you would like to see your childs balance as it stands at any time.

Even though we had our last concert Friday, we are still working on music this week. We have actually started our end of year music in all classes and will be preparing for Follies this week.
Yeah, yeah, I know its 5 months away, but we are going to stay productive and learn some fun songs. Hopefully it will stay in our memory banks until May when we will be working on it very hard.
Kudos go out to our kids, who showed drasticly improved behavior at their concert last week, and performed very well. Mrs. Fincher and I are very proud of them. In addition, the Encore Carols and Cocoa was a great success, where we raised over $300 for the choir program.
We hope everyone has a restful week, and gets back from their Holiday break well rested and ready to start our second semester with gusto. Thanks for a great first half.
P.S. If your thinking of a Christmas Present for the choir directors, we are almost out of Kleenex. We sure could use some more!

We are so thankful here at DMS choir for our well behaved and talented kids. The students were on their best behavior at the Texas Capitol last week and Mrs. Fincher and I are very proud of them.
This week we are getting the final touches done for our concert. As of this moment, our start time is quite liquid. We are planning to have pictures made for the yearbook and also work around the scheduled orchestra concert.
We also have been informed about the conflict with the McNeil choir concert. Unfortunately, the schools must schedule their events in May, and we do not have common scheduling meetings. We know this is a busy time, and are understanding of conflicts that the business causes. Of course, we will do whatever we can to make it work for each individual.
Friday is our Dell Christmas Party sing for several of the Chorale students. Look for a note on Tuesday or Wednesday and possibly a blog update.

Make sure you have purchased your tickets to the stars game this Saturday. We (chorale) will be singing the national anthem for all those in attendance. We are super excited about doing this again. Stay tuned for exact details on a meet time at the Cedar Park Center.
We will also be electing section leaders in most classes this week to help with student accountability.
We are moving forward quickly with our winter music and cant wait for you all to hear it in December.
Next Tuesday, Encore will travel with McNeil Choir to the Capitol to sing. We are excited to sing with the McNeil groups. Details will soon be ready for this concert as well.

As 11/11/11 approaches, chorale is preparing to sing the national anthem in several places. We will sing at the Pond Springs Elementary school program on Thursday the 10th (6pm) and again at 11/11/11 at 11:11am here at DMS. There is not a better song to sing during that time to honor the veterans that have and do serve to protect our freedom.
On 11/12, Encore will be performing at the McNeil/Parmer HEB from 2-6 for their holidays kick off. We are planning to sing solos and carols throughout the store. We hope you can stop by and do your shopping and grab a quick listen to us as we welcome in the holiday season.

Good spooky day to all of you out there. I have great news to report that our students did an outstanding job at the All-Region Choir this weekend in Georgetown. Amazing sounds were made by all three groups, and I am extremely proud of the DMS students that gave up their day to practice and perform in this annual event.
This week Encore will be attending the Ren. Fest and performing at 2:30 on the Globe Stage. We are excited about this opportunity. We have several upcoming performances next week. Stay tuned for an updated schedule of events later on this week.
Again, we continue to work on Winter Music and shape up our sightreading skills. We will also be celebrating red ribbon week, and are looking for some fun times while promoting a drug free culture.
