Welcome new Band Directors!

Deerpark Middle School Band Families:

Firstly, many congratulations on your recent successes in these past few years; your accomplishments over the past two years under the leadership of Ms. Williams and Mrs. Yee are truly the envy of any band community. You should be very proud of everything you have accomplished!

It is with the greatest excitement and humility that I introduce myself. My name is Rasheed Akande and I will be the new band director at Deerpark Middle School, next year. I am currently the Director of Bands at League City Intermediate School (middle school) in the Clear Creek I.S.D. about thirty minutes south of Houston, Texas near the Johnson Space Center. The League City Band has been a TMEA State Honor Band Finalist seven times, most recently placing 13th in the state last year!

I am also extremely excited to introduce to you, Matt Barnhart. Mr. Barnhart is coming to Deerpark from Space Center Intermediate School, also in the Clear Creek I.S.D., across the street from the Johnson Space Center! The Space Center Intermediate Band is one of the strongest middle school programs in the state, having been named the TMEA State Honor Band (best middle school band in the state) twice!

Mr. Barnhart and I are very excited to continue the success that you have started, and we are both very happy to now be Deerpark Rangers!

Welcome our new Orchestra Director, Mr. Connor Bell

 

Hello Parents and Students!

I would like to introduce myself to the orchestra families at Deerpark Middle School. My name is Connor Bell and I am a violinist and orchestra director. I am originally from Maryland and came to UT to pursue a Music Education degree and work in the UT String Project program. I have been involved with the UT program for the past five years, serving as faculty member, orchestra conductor, early childhood music education teacher and music theory coordinator. In addition to private teaching, I have experience as a group instructor with four-year-old beginners, high school students and adult learners. I also have extensive Suzuki Method training in violin and Early Childhood Education as well.

I am very excited to be a part of the learning community at Deerpark Middle School. I am eager to make music, nurture and expand this wonderful program. I look forward to teaching your child and meeting the students, families, and teachers at Deerpark. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me using the information provided below. I will be holding an open house in the Deerpark Orchestra Hall between 3-5pm on August 15th for anyone who would like to meet me and to size instruments for incoming students.

Fine Arts Gala and Auction - Friday the 13th!

Our annual Fine Arts Gala and Auction will be held from 6:00-7:30 on Friday the 13th! Every art student will have work on display, and/or will participate in a variety of performances during the evening, as well as an amazing silent auction.

We are also looking for three volunteers to help man the auction table and check-out. If you are able to help, please let me know.

We look forward to seeing everyone Friday the 13th! :)

Our annual Fine Arts Gala and Auction will be held from 6:00-7:30 on Friday the 13th! Every student will have work on display, and/or will be performing during the evening, Our fundraiser for the event is a silent auction.

We are currently seeking donations for our class baskets to auction off. Donations to the silent auction due by Tuesday April 10th. Please send in an item if you are able. We are also looking for three volunteers to help man the auction table and check-out. If you are able to help, please let me know.
